Story Stop Display Changes!

The REM was lucky to have two amazing summer students join us for the 2023 season. They looked into Regina’s history, incorporated their own interests in their research, and then looked through REM’s educational collection to curate a display for the Story Stop Program. The Story Stops are located at T&A Vintage in the Heritage Neighbourhood and Lakeview Fine Foods in the Lakeview neighbourhood.

Zoe Clough-Johnson, a linguistics student at the University of Regina curated a display of a writer’s desk at Lakeview Fine Foods. The artifacts displayed are from REM’s Educational Collection and represent the rich history, creativity, passion, and personality that comes from a writer’s desk. Zoe looked into the historical poets of Saskatchewan and connected them to the current writers of Regina. They spoke to current poets and you can read those conversations here! If you have the opportunity to visit the Lakeview Story Stop, scan the QR on the glass to add your own stories, comments, and photos related to Regina’s writers!

The second Story Stop at T&A Vintage was curated by Jagoda Bolesta, they are a printmaker studying art at the University of Alberta. Jagoda looked into the community music has created in Regina. Music has always been a part of the human experience and the artifacts displayed show the different ways music has connected people to their community throughout the years. They spoke to local musicians and community members to find out more about Regina’s current music scene and why music is important. You can add your experiences of Regina’s music scene on Memory KPR through the QR code at T&A Vintage Story Stop! You can also read about the history of the objects on display on Memory KPR.
