Story Stop Bench Changes! Curations from the ‘24 Summer Students

The REM was lucky to have two amazing students with us for 8 weeks this summer! Jessie Stueck and Sadie Moran have spent a lot of their time digging deep into the collection and Regina’s local history. Both of them were able to find some interesting artifacts in the collection that they developed into new Story Stop curations!

New at the Lakeview Fine Foods Story Stop on Hill Avenue is Sadie Moran’s curation on photography on the prairies! Artifacts on display range from vintage photos to the equipment photographers used to process their images. Check out the artifacts on display here, and don’t forget to read her article on photography in the recent blog posts!

Jessie Stueck has refreshed the Dessart Story Stop on 13th Avenue with a visually stimulating curation on the history of print media in Regina. Regina has a great history with printers making art, advertisements, and media; this display shows that range! See different examples of the printing history on display here, and read her research in our recent blog posts!

We also have another summer intern, Sage Wosminity, who has been curating stories on four historical themes across Regina and these digital curations will be viewable in the fall. She has explored the history of the John Deere Building/Brown Stone Plaza in the warehouse district, the context of trains and locomotive #5093 in front of the casino Regina, the development of performing arts in Regina, and her final research project reveals the connection of Regina’s community and food.

Big thank you to our amazing students for all the great work they have done this summer! We hope you enjoy all of their research, which will continue to be highlighted over the next few months!
