Hamilton Street
Many might think that Hamilton Street is named after the Eastern city that many streets around it are named for, but Hamilton Street is actually named after Lauchlin A. Hamilton. He was the Dominion land surveyor who made the first plotting of the Regina townsite. Hamilton’s map, known as ‘Old 33’ was registered on January 19, 1884. He also laid out the first plan for the city of Vancouver and later became a CPR land commissoner.
