Another street named for British heritage is Lorne Street, named for Sir John Douglas Sutherland Campbell. He was the 9th Duke of Argyll, Marquess of Lorne and the Governor general of Canada from 1878 to 1883. During this time is when his wife, Princess Louise, named Regina. Campbell founded the Royal Society of Canada in 1882, and helped establish the Royal Canadian Academy of Art, as well as the National Gallery. Argyle street is also named for him.
