The History of Regina’s Street Names

Street names show interesting aspects of the history and people who have lived in Regina, and the progression of values through new names. Many of the streets in Regina act as monuments for people who were important to its founding, while others memorialize the places and cultures that Regina’s people represent. The names also represent figures who were influential around the world. REM is doing a series on the history of the street names that are driven regularly, and we want to acknowledge all parts of Regina’s history, including colonization. We believe it is important to have these conversations about negative aspects of our history.
