Haunted Places: St Paul’s Cathedral

St. Paul’s Cathedral downtown at 1861 McIntyre Street was originally built in 1883, and has had many renovations over the years. In the dark of the night, it shows its eerie side. Security officers checking the church at night have experienced many different ghostly events. People would hear children crying, or the organ playing- even though the organ had been removed decades prior. Officers would often find doors open that were supposed to be locked. One officer recalls training a new staff member and walking through the building and locking every door they walked though, only to continuously hear doors behind them slamming close. Technology also didn’t always work correctly around and in the church. The security officers would have fully charged flashlights, and the battery would die immediately walking into the church, and when they would make their way outside back to the car to charge it, the flash lights would start working outside before charging it. If you sat outside the building, you could see the volume of the car radio slowly turn up (this happened to multiple people in multiple different vehicles). The building had enough creepy goings-on that even the most fearless officers would make a quick leave of the church.
