Haunted Places: The McKillop Residence
The McKillop Residence, better known as the Computer Clinic, is well known as a local haunt. The century-old home at 1800 College Avenue is best known for the woman in a white dress that hovers around the second story window. Her fame started when the building became home to Magellan’s Global Coffee House, as more people were coming into the space. When the second story was supposed to have nobody upstairs, people would hear a woman singing, some employees had seen her right before locking the doors at night, and could smell the unmistaken aroma of pancakes.
One employee is known for quitting on the spot after the ghost unsettlingly walked directly through her. Soon after, another employee was flustered one morning when the spirit was playing with the automatic mixer. As the baker made their way closer to the mixer, with each step the mixer would advance to a higher speed, and was at the highest speed when the baker was able to unplug the mixer. Another worker witnessed the woman’s apparition wearing a dress three different times.
One customer of the coffee shop experienced the ghost when taking her young daughter to the upstairs bathroom. While standing outside the bathroom door, she could hear her daughter speaking to someone, but knowing her daughter should be alone she banged on the door for her to open it. Her daughter peacefully opened the door to only her in the washroom. The mother asked “Who were you talking to?” to which the daughter pointed to an empty hallway and said “My new lady friend, she just walked by you!” Nobody has ever been able to figure out who the woman in white is, but she is one of the most famous ghosts of Regina.
