Lochhead Bay

This street honours the internationally known Regina Five artist, Kenneth Lochhead. During the 1950’s and 1960’s Lochhead had a profound influence on Saskatchewans art scene, with the other Regina Five Artists; Ronald Bloor, Ted Godwin, Art McKay and Doug Morton. He was educated at Queen’s University, Pennsylvania Academy and Barnes Foundation. In 1949 he was commissioned to paint a series of documentary pictures of Fort Churchill. Lochhead was appointed director of the School of Art, Regina College, in 1950, a post he held until he left the city in 1955. He won a national competition for the mural at Gander Airport in 1958.
