Scarth Street
Scarth Street is known for its enjoyable bustling vibe, and alluring store fronts, with diverse people and music, especially during the summer. This street goes all the way back to the founding of Regina. It is named after William B. Scarth, who was one of four that represented the North-West Land Company in 1882 and held the townsite property in trust. In 1882, the railway reached this point and Scarth was the one and only resident, which meant that it fell to him to develop the townsite. He was passionate and called a public meeting to assure residents that a well would be sunk, the creek dammed, streets graded and public buildings erected. To succeed in his goals, he invited prominent easterners to visit Regina in his private railway car in October of 1882.
